KASPROWY WIERCH - WINTER

ski slopes na Kasprowy Wierch

There are two spacious, wide and beautiful ski slopes on Kasprowy Wierch (not always and, unfortunately, only partially graded with a snowcat) - GASIENICOWA and GORYCZKOWA. Both routes start quite steeply (the beginning of the Gasienicowa is steeper), but then they are a bit gentler. The most difficult parts of the routes are rated as very difficult (black) in bad snow conditions (ice, moguls) or difficult (red) in good conditions. There is a modern four-person chairlift on Gasienicowa, and an old (from 1969!) ski lift with wooden, two-person chairs on Goryczkowa.

From Kasprowy Wierch to Kuznice you can go through both Goryczkowa and Gasienicowa. The ski slope leading from Gasienicowa through Karczmisko is less popular because it requires an ascent of approximately 200 m. The further route from Karczmisko to Kuznice is narrow and winding, but very picturesque. Due to its shape, I do not recommend it to snowboarders.

Important! There is no ski slope for beginners on Kasprowy Wierch, nor is there any hill for sledding or sliding.

On the PKL website you can check whether and which routes are open today and what snow cover they have pkl.pl

KASPROWY WIERCH is called the Holy Mountain of skiers by many, especially older, ski enthusiasts. Gasienicowa and Goryczkowa are the only routes in Poland similar to the slopes in the Alps.

If you don't know if you can ski or snowboard down from Kasprowy, try skiing down the black slope on Harenda ski centre (in Zakopane) a few times - if it's not too difficult for you, you'll be able to get down from Kasprowy Wierch without any problems.

GOOD TO KNOW:
  • I suggest to buy SKIPASS in ADVANCE
SKIPASS purchased in advance allows you to travel by cable car to Kasprowy Wierch without waiting in line at the ticket office. There are practically no queues for chairlifts anymore because the capacity of the lifts is much higher than the capacity of the cable car.
  • SKIPASS TOP SKITOUR?
SKIPASS TOP Skitour includes only chairlift rides, no cable car rides. It is intended for people who stay overnight in the Murowaniec shelter on Gasienicowa.
  • SKIPASS EKSPRESS?
Express SKIPASS is the most expensive ski pass. It can only be purchased at the Service Office in Kuznice and allows you to travel by cable car to Kasprowy Wierch without waiting in line at the ticket office on the day of purchase.
  • SKI EQUIPMENT RENTAL?
There is a ski equipment rental in Kuznice (near the Kasprowy Wierch cable car station), where you can rent both skis and snowboards, as well as ski touring equipment.
